Better late than never? The end of 2018 and beginning of 2019 have been a little harder than we’d have liked but that shouldn’t stop the blogging! This post is a little insight into what we are going to do and what we would like to do in 2019.
We hope you all have a fantastic year!
We went for a little trip to get into the festive mood; seeing some Christmas markets! We went down to the south UK to see Christmas markets in Winchester, Southampton and London. We love seeing the Christmas lights and eating caramelised nuts and sautéed potatoes! (We basically go for the food).
So part one of our Berlin blog was primarily about what we budgeted for Berlin, and an overall of what we did/what was going on while we were there.
Part two of our Berlin blog is going to be what we did, what we would recommend and any tips that we would suggest for you if you’re planning on visiting Berlin.
We have been AWOL for a little while, and apologies for that… However we are now back!
Recently we went to spend 4 days in Berlin, to have a nice get away. We booked Berlin back in February to give us something to look forward to after we got back from America (and we were suffering holiday blues). Berlin is somewhere we wanted to visit, and is a nice little city get away that isn’t crazy expensive.
Due to living in the North of England, getting to places such as Legoland, Thorpe Park and Chessington World of Adventures isn’t easy to do as a day trip. So just like we did back in October, we decided to go and spend a few days visiting the different parks with our Merlin Annual Passes.
The plan was:
- Warwick Castle on the way down (Saturday),
- Chessington World of Adventures (Sunday),
- Legoland (Monday),
- Thorpe Park and then straight home (Tuesday).
We call it the ‘Dog Cottage’ because we go once a year to a cottage that allows you to take your dogs with you and we take 2 dogs; a chihuahua and a labrador.
We looked at a cottage that was near to some nice walks that us and the dogs could enjoy, it also helps to stay active and not be shopping. We had several requirements that included; a fenced garden so the dogs cannot get out, nice clean and spacious cottage, 2 bedrooms and a large garden.
Since discovering The Gallery at the Odeon cinema, I find it hard to watch a long film (2 hours or longer) without sitting up there. It’s not the cheapest option, so we only sit up there when there’s a good film out such as the new Star Wars films or Avengers or a film we have been wanting to see for a while.
This has to be my favourite way to watch any film, our most recent visit wasn’t the best however there wasn’t anything that would stop me from going up there again.
This day should be packing, checking out of the hotel, feeling like you’ve forgotten something and heading for the airport.
Well we did our packing 2 days before, because we knew the night before we would be to tired. So it was just a case of putting in the last bits like clothes we’d worn, make up, brushes, toiletries etc. Then do a scan of the place to make sure we have everything, and leave a final tip for housekeeping (we put all the drinks and stuff we had left that hadn’t been opened in a pile on the dining room table along with a cash tip).
A day away from the parks means a day at the beach. Clearwater Beach to be exact, we already knew we were going here as we had planned it. Clearwater is 2 hours away from where we are staying but we have heard good things, which was why we decided to go.
A 2-hour drive requires a good breakfast! So we went to Denny’s. Not sure what to expect it was filled with locals and tourists all wanting breakfast of course. We had a look through the menu and decided on pecan pancakes. Denny’s was nice, but due to the amount of customers the service was a little slow, but this didn’t bother us.
