just as the title says, we did 44 rides in 3 days! That’s a lot of rides, in fact on the second night when I closed my eyes my body felt like it was swaying. We did 12 rides on day 1, 17 on day 2 and 15 on day 3; and we will be telling you how we did all of this below. If you want to watch what we did a short video is here!Continue reading
Better late than never? The end of 2018 and beginning of 2019 have been a little harder than we’d have liked but that shouldn’t stop the blogging! This post is a little insight into what we are going to do and what we would like to do in 2019.
We hope you all have a fantastic year!
“Yes!” is the short answer, but then that wouldn’t be much of a blog post! If you’ve never heard of Icee, then let me explain with this extract from the Icee Wiki page…
“The Icee Company is an American beverage company located in Ontario, California, United States. Its flagship product is the Icee which is a frozen carbonated beverage available in fruit and soda flavors”
Due to living in the North of England, getting to places such as Legoland, Thorpe Park and Chessington World of Adventures isn’t easy to do as a day trip. So just like we did back in October, we decided to go and spend a few days visiting the different parks with our Merlin Annual Passes.
The plan was:
- Warwick Castle on the way down (Saturday),
- Chessington World of Adventures (Sunday),
- Legoland (Monday),
- Thorpe Park and then straight home (Tuesday).
We’ve visited a lot of theme parks recently, so have come up with some top tips that should help you get the most from your day, get the best value for money, and have a great time! Feel free to comment if you have any other tips!
So this is not our first time to Alton Towers (as you can imagine), however it was our first time seeing the all new Wicker Man ride that they had to offer.
It has been a good 2 or 3 years since we last stepped foot into Alton Towers, though not a lot has changed. Alton Towers has a lot to offer, if you don’t like rides but still want to go when all of your friends do then don’t worry. Alton Towers has wonderful gardens that you can go walking through! The gardens are stunning and are located in the middle of the park.
Legoland is a favourite of ours, we enjoy the park and it always makes for a great day out. If you want to go with kids it is fantastic! You do not have to stay at Legoland, we stayed in Maidenhead which is only a 10 min drive (and significantly cheaper). This was our last day and we knew that we would be going from Legoland back to Liverpool. Legoland is included on our Merlin Annual passes, and last time we had them we went to Legoland several times that year, though it was a lot easier when I was living down there and we didn’t have to pay for a hotel.
After waking up (and not wanting to get up), having a lovely full cooked breakfast (and maybe some pancakes as well, got to be ready for the day) and checking out of the hotel we left for Legoland. It is only about 10 miles away from the Maidenhead Premier Inn, so we would recommend it if you’re wanting to go to Legoland and it not cost you a fortune!
Yes, we went back to Blackpool again this weekend. We’ve spent a lot of time there recently with ‘Ride the Lights’ and seeing the lights in the car, getting our Merlin Annual Passes and now this weekend going to Sea Life and Madame Tussauds. Blackpool is a fun place, and the big arcade Coral Island has a ride inside it! There is also Blackpool Pleasure Beach if you enjoy rides, and an ice rink if you love to skate.
We never stay over, we usually just go up for the day because it is only an hour drive from us. However you wouldn’t be able to do everything in one day (hence we have been so many times recently). If you do just want to spend the day there then I recommend going to the Tower Circus – you do need to book you seats when you arrive in the morning, just tell the staff which time you would like to go and they will hand you a ticket for the show. You can go out and do other things before the Circus time, you do not have to stay in the tower.
Okay so Blackpool is only an hour away so it’s super easy for us to go to and there’s lots to do! As you will have read we went to Blackpool at the weekend to collect our Merlin Annual Passes. Woo!
So we have had one in the past and it was great! I was living in Winchester and Martin up north, which meant that we had access to pretty much all the parks and attractions easily (or at least without a hotel).
We actually only wanted to go for a little trip to the Blackpool tower and go to the circus, but after pricing it up we decided that we may as well get a Merlin Annual Pass and then we can keep going back. Merlin Annual Passes are great because they include (and are not limited to); Blackpool Tower, Blackpool Dungeons, Sealife centres, Madame Tussauds, Alton Towers, Thorpe Park, Legoland, Chessington World of Adventures, London eye and many more places.
