Better late than never? The end of 2018 and beginning of 2019 have been a little harder than we’d have liked but that shouldn’t stop the blogging! This post is a little insight into what we are going to do and what we would like to do in 2019.
We hope you all have a fantastic year!
Due to living in the North of England, getting to places such as Legoland, Thorpe Park and Chessington World of Adventures isn’t easy to do as a day trip. So just like we did back in October, we decided to go and spend a few days visiting the different parks with our Merlin Annual Passes.
The plan was:
- Warwick Castle on the way down (Saturday),
- Chessington World of Adventures (Sunday),
- Legoland (Monday),
- Thorpe Park and then straight home (Tuesday).
So this is not our first time to Alton Towers (as you can imagine), however it was our first time seeing the all new Wicker Man ride that they had to offer.
It has been a good 2 or 3 years since we last stepped foot into Alton Towers, though not a lot has changed. Alton Towers has a lot to offer, if you don’t like rides but still want to go when all of your friends do then don’t worry. Alton Towers has wonderful gardens that you can go walking through! The gardens are stunning and are located in the middle of the park.
Being able to afford random weekends away or day trips out isn’t always easy. Especially considering I work a minimum wage job, and work around 26 hours a week. Combine this with having my own outgoings (such as my car, bills, food, etc) there is not much left over to spend on the month.
I’m writing this blog with a smile on my face because despite my lack of money and complaints, we have just booked another little weekend away and it includes a trip back to where I grew up! I am super excited.
Here I will discuss a number of ways that you can make your money go further and have fun with it. This month I got one of my lowest wages and we are going for 2 long weekends away and have just bought ourselves Merlin Annual Passes. So if you really want to do something you will find a way to do it.
Yes, we went back to Blackpool again this weekend. We’ve spent a lot of time there recently with ‘Ride the Lights’ and seeing the lights in the car, getting our Merlin Annual Passes and now this weekend going to Sea Life and Madame Tussauds. Blackpool is a fun place, and the big arcade Coral Island has a ride inside it! There is also Blackpool Pleasure Beach if you enjoy rides, and an ice rink if you love to skate.
We never stay over, we usually just go up for the day because it is only an hour drive from us. However you wouldn’t be able to do everything in one day (hence we have been so many times recently). If you do just want to spend the day there then I recommend going to the Tower Circus – you do need to book you seats when you arrive in the morning, just tell the staff which time you would like to go and they will hand you a ticket for the show. You can go out and do other things before the Circus time, you do not have to stay in the tower.
Okay so Blackpool is only an hour away so it’s super easy for us to go to and there’s lots to do! As you will have read we went to Blackpool at the weekend to collect our Merlin Annual Passes. Woo!
We made the decision to go round Blackpool Tower, Circus and Dungeons. All of these are included on our Merlin Annual Passes and we were already there, so why not?
So we have had one in the past and it was great! I was living in Winchester and Martin up north, which meant that we had access to pretty much all the parks and attractions easily (or at least without a hotel).
We actually only wanted to go for a little trip to the Blackpool tower and go to the circus, but after pricing it up we decided that we may as well get a Merlin Annual Pass and then we can keep going back. Merlin Annual Passes are great because they include (and are not limited to); Blackpool Tower, Blackpool Dungeons, Sealife centres, Madame Tussauds, Alton Towers, Thorpe Park, Legoland, Chessington World of Adventures, London eye and many more places.
